TABB receives ANSI accreditation

January 27, 2009

The Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing Bureau (TABB) has earned official accreditation from the American National Standards Insitute (ANSI). ANSI oversees national norms and guidelines that directly affect business in almost every sector. The accreditation is also meant to strengthen the U.S. marketplace position in the global economy while helping to assure the safety and health of consumers and the protection of the environment.

TABB runs the testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB) certification program, which ensures that HVAC systems operate at the highest standards with the greatest efficiency at every stage of an indoor environmental retrofit (or to new building specification).

TABB Certification standards and procedures for certification are set by a policy-making body, with different professional groups acting as training and testing entities. This structure contributed to the eligibility for ANSI accreditation.

TABB affiliate offices are found in Connecticut, Chicago, New York, Indiana, Orange County (CA), San Francisco, St. Louis, and Los Angeles. This geographic spread and separation of certification/testing/renewal entities is designed to also help TABB avoid the kind of regionalized industry politics that could possibly keep qualified contractors from becoming certified.
