Johnson Controls acquires Gridlogix
Johnson Controls Inc. has acquired Gridlogix, a software company based in St. Louis. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Johnson Controls states that the transaction puts it in a better position to help customers minimize the effects of rising energy prices while addressing their goals to make their facilities more sustainable.
"We are trying to help large and global organizations integrate, measure, manage and reduce their energy costs through enhanced integration and systems management," said Allen Martin, vice president and general manager -- systems business of Johnson Controls. "With rising energy prices and increasing concern over the environment, organizations seek solutions -- such as data on their key performance indicators -- to help minimize the effects of market volatility."
Gridlogix's EnNET® platform allows building management systems to interface with open protocol IT systems to better manage energy, maintenance, physical security and compliance, which makes their facilities more energy efficient and sustainable. The platform is currently operable in many global business segments, including data centers, government, higher education and commercial facilities.
Gridlogix's software combined with Johnson Controls Metasys® building management system will allow facility managers greater and more secure connectivity to IT applications, according to the parties. They also state that users can realize enhanced alarm response capabilities, and increased monitoring and reporting, thus allowing them to aggregate data for enterprise-based reports. Equipped with this greater visibility to energy use, users can make intelligent real-time portfolio decisions.
"This is a natural integration of two companies who know that energy efficiency and sustainability are key business drivers for customers," said John Daniel, executive vice president of business development for Gridlogix. "We look forward to seeing our solutions integrated into the Johnson Controls product family to serve and to bring greater benefits to customers the world over."
KMC Controls Gridlogix customers can continue to expect a high-level of service and expertise throughout this transition, Daniel reports. Gridlogix will soon take on the Johnson Controls name.
