SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The new Carrier WeatherExpert 10-ton unit exceeds the parameters of the recent U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Rooftop Unit (RTU) challenge, the company announced.
It provides an IEER of 20.8, more than the required minimum of 18.0.
In an effort to spur the market introduction of cost-effective, high-performance commercial rooftop air conditioners, the DOE created the RTU challenge, enlisting manufacturers to develop a 10-ton unit that meets the 18.0 IEER specifications by April 1.
