ISLAMABAD — Due to an energy shortage, Pakistan Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso is banning the use of air conditioners by government offices, The Times of India reports.
The ban, which went into effect May 15, will continue until the energy situation improves. Average highs in Islamabad reach more than 100°F in June and 95° in July.
Government officials have also implemented a new dress code, which will allow employees to come to work in shoes without laces or sandals without socks, among other changes.
