Umicore Inc. and VMzinc-US are participating in a canned food drive to support Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, a group that teaches self-sufficiency while eliminating hunger.
More than 50 employees of Umicore and VMzinc, which operates as part of Umicore’s building products unit, collected 2,216 nonperishable food cans for Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.
In September, the companies also took part in Inter-Faith’s BackPack Buddies program. It provides North Carolina children in need with meals on weekends, when food from school nutrition programs is not available.
“I am very proud of our employees’ hard work and dedication in collecting both cans for our food drive and nonperishable items for the BackPack Buddies program,” said Daniel Nicely, managing director at VMzinc-US and Umicore, USA Inc. “We truly enjoy giving back and supporting charities, such as the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, that assist our surrounding community and provide food for those in need.”
