U.S.-based
instrument maker Fluke Corp. is a sponsor of WorldSkills 2011, held Wednesday
through Saturday at the ExCel convention center in London.
Organizers
say WorldSkills is the largest competition of its kind, with an estimated 1,000
contestants ages 11 to 19 from around the world showing off their talents. The
contest is attracting more than 150,000 to the United Kingdom, officials said.
“We are delighted to receive the Fluke sponsorship, which
includes the provision of some of the company’s rugged electrical and electronic
test equipment for use by participants in a wide range of skills in (the
categories) ‘Construction and building technology,’ ‘Manufacturing and engineering
technology’ and ‘Transportation and logistics,’ ” said Aidan Jones, CEO of
WorldSkills London 2011. “Coming from the world leader in the manufacture,
distribution and service of electronic test tools and software, we are assured
that participants will be using the latest products offering high productivity
and user safety.”
