Polar Adds Refrigerant Services Inc.

Polar Technology has purchased Refrigerant Services Inc. (RSI). RSI provides recovery services in a specialized section of the industry, tailored toward large industrial refrigeration accounts, such as chemical plants and process cooling facilities. “The acquisition is seen as a strategic complement to Polar Technology’s strength as a refrigerant sales and reclamation and recycling company,” according to a statement from Polar.

Polar has a refrigerant recovery cylinder exchange program, a line of virgin and recertified refrigerants, and refrigerant and oil analysis programs, and also provides recovery and rental services and oil and solvent reclamation.

“Polar made this investment as we strive to grow our business and enter the field of direct refrigerant recovery support,” said Ted Atwood, president and founder of Polar Technology. “We feel that this purchase will not only broaden our customer base and focus our resources, but will further allow us to broaden our environmental stewardship programs, of which we are extremely proud.”

“I believe this acquisition takes the refrigerant business to a whole new level, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for Polar Technology and its staff,” said Shannon Arthur, partner of RSI.

She noted RSI “has been instrumental in developing a special sector of the industry, large industrial refrigeration accounts. They have developed an exclusive position in this area, due to the challenges and technical expertise required to perform such work.”

It was noted that the specialized technology would be transferred to Polar Technology’s facility in California. Polar Technology will continue to support RSI customers, the statement said, and Arthur will remain as account manager for RSI clients.

“We are very positive about the future of the reclaim industry,” said Atwood. “We believe that our investment in these resources enhances Polar’s ability to remain a valued partner of contractors, large building owners, process cooling facilities, chemical plants, and wholesale distributors.”
