Replacement/Conversion Of CFC Chillers Gains Momentum
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario - The Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) has released the 2003 update on the Canadian CFC chiller stock study. This update estimates that 278 chillers previously operating on CFC refrigerants were converted or replaced during 2003 in Canada. This represents a 33 percent increase in conversions/replacements compared to 2002.
This number brings the total number of converted or replaced chillers from 1,274 (2002) to 1,552 and the rate of conversion/replacements from 23.2 percent (2001) to 28.3 percent. The HRAI study, entitled Determining a Baseline Number of CFC Chillers in Canada, was published in July of 2000.
