A new digital temperature controller manages defrost cycles and evaporator fans. According to the manufacturer, the controller, TC-940Ri, initiates defrost cycles only when necessary because the instrument initiates and finishes the defrost cycles by temperature, not by time, so it prevents unnecessary defrosts. The controller has an output for the defrost cycle, one for the fan, one for the compressor, and one output for the alarm. It has an operational temperature of 0 degrees to 60 degrees C. The unit has a resolution of 0.1 degrees between -10 degrees and 75 degrees and a resolution of 1 degree between -50 degrees and -10 degrees.
