MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — The Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) is saddened to notify members of the passing of three members of the Canadian HVACR industry.

Peter Gibbs passed away on June 5, 2012 after a valiant battle with cancer. Gibbs was the president and general manager of Refrigerative Supply, a wholesaler member of HRAI, for more than 30 years and an active participant in HRAI. He served as a director on the board of the wholesalers division of HRAI and was highly respected by his many colleagues in the industry in Canada and the United States.

Ted Martin passed away on June 9, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Martin was with Cimco Refrigeration, a contractor member of HRAI, for more than 35 years. He was active in a number of industry associations, including Ontario Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (ORAC) and ASHRAE, and was serving as the secretary/treasurer of ORAC at the time of his death.

Ted Squires passed away on June 2 at the age of 81. He was a past chair of HRAI and retired from B.D Wait Co. Squires was a long time supporter of the industry and HRAI. He served for many years on the HRAI board of directors and served as chair of HRAI in 1980. He was the “resident expert” on the CEX/CMX/CIPHEX trade show and served on the first CEX show committee in 1970 and continued to serve until 2004.

HRAI noted that each of these members will be missed by their many friends and colleagues in the industry.
