June 21, 2012: BPI to Adopt ASHRAE Standard 62.2-2010 in January
MALTA, N.Y. — The Building Performance Institute Inc. (BPI) announced that it will adopt ASHRAE Standard 62.2-2010, Ventilation and Acceptable Indoor Air Quality in Low Rise Residential Buildings, on Jan. 1, 2013. The new standard will replace BPI’s current operating standard, ASHRAE 62-89. In response to feedback regarding mechanical ventilation requirements for existing homes, BPI has decided to update to 62.2-2010 in order to keep standards and certifications current.
BPI said that accredited companies have informed the organization that a six-month lead time is required to obtain training and adjust work schedules to transition from the current standard to 62.2-2010. During the remainder of 2012, contractors and energy efficiency program administrators should prepare for this transition.
