BALTIMORE — Danfoss recognized MultiStack LLC of Sparta, Wis., as the winner of the second annual EnVisioneer of the Year award competition. MultiStack was honored for its success in implementing energy-efficient practices. The award competition was launched in 2010 by Danfoss to recognize end users, building owners, and OEMs that exemplify the Danfoss EnVisioneering core values and have used Danfoss products to realize significant energy and/or environment savings. MultiStack installed two of its chillers at Valley High School, Las Vegas. The installation included eight Danfoss Turbocor compressors, four Danfoss VLT® variable-frequency drives, and the MultiStack FlexSys controller, which incorporates Danfoss Turbocor software.

By switching to the magnetic levitation-powered chillers and a central plant control system, school administrators hoped to reduce energy use at the 45-year-old building by 50 percent. The school exceeded its goal by 20 percent, reducing energy consumption from 1.5 kW/ton to 0.443 kW/ton. “We are excited to recognize MultiStack’s winning approach to energy efficiency,” said John Galyen, president, Danfoss North America. “This application is particularly interesting, because it demonstrates the impressive savings that can be achieved in existing buildings by investing in and applying energy-efficient technology available on the market today. We launched this competition to help business leaders continue to advance energy-efficient, sustainable solutions that support improved performance and profitability, higher standards, and lower operating costs in buildings and facilities.” In recognition of the energy-efficiency achievements of MultiStack, Danfoss made a financial contribution in the winner’s honor to Rebuilding Together, a nonprofit organization. Rebuilding Together’s network of more than 200 affiliates provides extensive renovations and modifications to the homes of low-income Americans at no cost to the homeowners, making the homes safer, more accessible, and more energy efficient. “On behalf of Rebuilding Together, I am honored to accept this generous donation from Danfoss,” said Gary A.
