ACCA Names CroppMetcalfe and Air-Tro 2011 Contractors of the Year

SAN ANTONIO - The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA), the nation’s largest association of indoor environmental systems professionals, announced the winners of the Residential and Commercial Contractor of the Year awards during the ACCA’s 43rd Annual Conference and Indoor Air Expo, held in San Antonio.

CROPPMETCALFE: RESIDENTIAL CONTRACTOR

CroppMetcalfe Services of Fairfax, Va., is the residential winner of the association’s 2011 Contractors of the Year program.

“This year’s Contractors of the Year finalists were all notable contracting businesses with unique approaches to serving their customers, and we are pleased to recognize CroppMetcalfe Services as the winner,” said Paul T. Stalknecht, ACCA president and CEO.

Paul Stalknecht, (left) ACCA president and CEO, presented the Residential Contractor of the Year Award to CroppMetcalfe Services of Fairfax, Va. Accepting the award is Mitchell Cropp (center), CEO, and Tim Cropp, president.

“CroppMetcalfe Services epitomizes the idea of a total service provider for its customers, by being successful in many fields without compromising quality or satisfaction. They are known as a leader in the industry, because even with their success, they continue to support the industry and ACCA.”

“The past year has been an amazing one for CroppMetcalfe, and this award is the crowning achievement for everything we have accomplished,” said Mitchell Cropp, CEO of CroppMetcalfe Services. “It is an honor to be recognized by such a prestigious organization as ACCA, and in 2011, we will continue to make strides in our goal for customers for life.”

“This award really goes to our employees,” added Tim Cropp, president of CroppMetcalfe Services. “Their dedication and commitment to the customer are what keeps us moving forward and a leader in the industry. CroppMetcalfe would not be where we are today without our loyal employees.”

AIR-TRO INC.: COMMERCIAL CONTRACTOR

ACCA also announced during the national meeting that Air-Tro Inc. of Monrovia, Calif., is the commercial winner of the association’s 2011 Contractors of the Year program.

“We had some very notable commercial contracting companies in the running as finalists this year,” said Stalknecht. “Air-Tro Inc. stands out as a leader in the industry by advocating for quality installations and supporting ACCA’s efforts to create and improve the QI standard.”

“It’s an amazing privilege to be named ACCA Commercial Contractor of the Year,” said Robert Helbing, president of Air-Tro Inc. “This is the greatest honor an HVAC contractor can hope for; it’s like a baseball player being named Most Valuable Player, or an actor receiving an Oscar. Everyone in the HVAC industry knows we work in a field with a low profile; we find job satisfaction in work done well rather than in public acclaim. That makes it even more exciting for us at Air-Tro to have been chosen for this award.”

A full profile of both award-winning companies will be published in the association’s Contractor Excellence magazine, as well as on the magazine’s website, www.contractorexcellence.com.

The other distinguished finalists will be published also on www.contractorexcellence.com later this year. Residential finalists were Doctor Cool & Professor Heat Inc. in League City, Texas, and Jackson & Sons Inc. in Dudley, N.C. Commercial finalists were Donnelly Mechanical Corp., Queens Village, N.Y., and K&M Shillingford Inc., Tulsa, Okla.
