Demand for hydronic comfort solutions is heating up. According to a report by Technavio, the global market is expected to increase by more than 7 percent from 2018 to 2022, driven by a desire for more energy-efficient and energy-neutral technologies to improve the indoor climate. With more homeowners and building owners looking to advance the technologies in their structures to make them smarter, more efficient, or just more comfortable, it’s in a contractor’s best interest to become proficient in radiant heating and cooling systems to further expand their market — or, to dominate a niche market.
Within the limits of ultimate system functionality, hydronic/mechanical artists can “paint their own canvas” — free to explore greater functionality, performance, and energy efficiency — all the while having the time of our lives (mechanically speaking).
The residential boiler market in the U.S. is somewhat small when compared to the rest of the world. In fact, according to some estimates, only about 9 million U.S. homes are heated with boilers, 60 percent of which are in the Northeast.
The variable-speed ALPHA1 offers three simple-to-operate constant-pressure modes. The LED display ensures the ALPHA1 is delivering the optimal hydronic heating and/or hot water recirculation flow rate at the lowest possible energy consumption.
The MagnaClean Micro2 features a patented magnetic filtration system that begins to capture and remove virtually all of the suspended iron oxide that collects in hydronic heating systems within minutes of installation.
This zone valve is for use in hydronic heating and other HVAC systems, such as those with fan coils and air handlers. The mechanical valve allows one actuator to accept input voltages between 120 and 277 vac 50/60 HZ.
Several manufacturers are looking to challenge the ubiquitous furnace by offering a different option: the hydro-air system, which they claim is a cleaner, more efficient, and more comfortable alternative to conventional furnaces.
If you’ve never tried a radiant ceiling panel, I urge you to do so. I’ve used this panel construction on several projects and have always been delighted with the installation method, performance, and lack of problems.
