The following remarks were made regarding the article “HVAC Predictions for 2019,” written by Kyle Gargaro, editorial director for The NEWS, published Jan. 14.

DISAPPOINTED

I was very disappointed to read Kyle Gargaro’s opinion article saying that contractors need to accept homeowners buying their own equipment and parts online and that we must have a plan to install them. Also, he said this would lead to transparency, or contractors need to be transparent. What about equipment sizing? Do we take a trip out to the home and do a heat loss, tell the customer what size they need, they order it, then we come install it for so much an hour? What about warranty? How about if they want to install it and then just have us come out and do the startup? What plan are you suggesting, Kyle? You wrote the article. Tell me how, as a business owner, I can do this and still make payroll for the 10 families who work with me. I do not feel the comments in that article lead to professionalism and transparency. Are these kinds of comments really the message that The NEWS wants to give its readers? Does this article lead to professionalism? I don’t see how.
