Shannon Enterprises of W.N.Y. Inc. has helped George Mason University save more than $1 million since 2009 with an insulation solution for the university’s heating and cooling system. The university’s energy manager calculated the milestone based on annual energy savings accumulated from using a self-contained, reusable insulation system.
Comfort Institute released finding from a new study that indicates leaks in ductwork located in conditioned space can have a significant impact on energy savings. The study, conducted by Comfort Institute in combination with the Greater Cincinnati Energy Alliance (GCEA), showed that the amount of conditioned air seeping through the building envelope and escaping to the outside of the home was reduced by an average of 11.4 percent after the ducts were effectively sealed.

Museum recognized for its energy efficient approach, lowering carbon footprint and reducing energy cost

The Science Museum of Minnesota, one of the most visited museums in the upper Midwest and a national leader in providing informal science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, invested in a more sustainable solution after learning that building upgrades could save millions of dollars in energy costs by decreasing fossil fuels and high-energy sources coming from their building.
Integrated Facility Services (IFS) installed the energy-efficient HVAC system at the $26 million O’Fallon Justice Center, which opened in December, 2017. The 96,000-square-foot justice center houses the O’Fallon Police Department and Municipal Courts, Missouri. The construction manager was McCarthy Building Companies and the architect was Wilson Estes Police Architects.
Venstar announced that the PizzaRev chain is using Venstar’s Wireless Temperature Sensors and ColorTouch touchscreen thermostats with Venstar’s Skyport™ Cloud Services to keep its stores cool and comfortable despite the use of 900-degree pizza ovens.

Behind the work, training, bids and contracts is the business of sheet metal work, and for decades, training coordinators and instructors have taught Business 101 to their members at their home training centers. The class was geared to educate members on the financial, human resources and general operation of a business using in-person classes, books and expertise.
