WASHINGTON, DC — Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham celebrated “Weatherization Day” by noting the widespread aid that the Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Weatherization Assistance Program has given to low-income families. The program is celebrating its 26th anniversary.
“The Department of Energy’s Weatherization Assistance Program is helping thousands of families throughout the country reduce their costs for heating and cooling their homes,” stated Abraham. “With weatherization, these families will save an average of $218 each year. President Bush recommends increased funding for weatherization assistance over the next 10 years, as outlined in his National Energy Policy.”
