The article in the March 3 issue of The News dealt with the secondary windings of a Delta service transformer with one winding center-tapped to the ground. The article stated that the power-leg or wild-leg voltage with respect to ground was 208 V. It was also mentioned that this 208 voltage should not be confused with the 208 V coming from the secondary of the Wye service transformer.
Figure 1 shows a center-tapped Delta transformer. It also shows the power leg to neutral as being 208 V for a 240-V system and 190 V for a 230-V system. The different voltage magnitudes depend on the turn ratios of the primary to the secondary windings of the transformers.
