Report On HRAI Extended Producer Responsibility Survey
The Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) recently published its Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) survey. The survey explanation and results follow.
The provincial governments are in the process of implementing EPR programs dealing with the waste created in the installation of new products. This waste can be anything from the packaging used to wrap new product in transportation, to the disposal of the decommissioned equipment the new product is replacing. The idea of these programs is to modify both physical and financial responsibilities for this waste stream to include the producers and installers of the goods.
