INKSTER, MI — A total of 40 tradeswomen spent two weeks working on heating, plumbing, siding, flooring, and drywall for the Love Light Foundation’s Habitat for Humanity home in suburban Detroit. Joining the contingent were five piping apprentices from Pipefitters Local 636.
Angie Lapham, an apprentice at the Pipefitters Training Center in Troy, MI said she got the idea for helping out from a “Women in Construction” seminar.
“I [helped] hook up the hot water tank and ran the gas lines from the basement to the kitchen to the dryer,” Lapham aid. “Other girls were doing siding and plumbing in the bathroom.
“It was for a great cause, and we helped out where we needed to be.”
