SIDNEY, Ohio - Glenn W. Hannegan Jr., 73, died May 14, 2006, at his residence after an extended illness (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease). He was a well-respected engineer and trainer in the HVACR industry for many years, working with both Copeland Corp. and the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES).
He was born Sept. 8, 1932, in Watonga, Okla., to Glenn W. and Augusta (Messer) Hannegan Sr. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was first employed as a production manager for an air conditioning package unit manufacturer in California. He moved from Huntington Beach, Calif., to Sidney in 1971, when he joined Copeland Corp. as an application engineer. He would later bear the titles of service engineer and senior training specialist.
