FREMONT, CA — Nationwide Boiler Inc. has received a contract to provide a complete 140,000-lb/hr steam plant to Consolidated Edison (ConEd) of New York at the site of the September 11 disaster in lower Manhattan.
The equipment includes two low-NOx trailer-mounted steam boilers, each capable of producing 70,000 lb of steam per hour, and a mobile water treatment van capable of processing up to 300 gallons of water per minute.
According to the company, the equipment will be used to provide steam to buildings around the site of the disaster for heating and hot water service. When operated as an integrated system, these units can generate enough steam to heat the equivalent of 3,000 homes.
