CHICAGO, IL — The Environ-mental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 5 has settled two cases with Chicago area facilities involving ammonia and benzene leaks.
Stock Yards Packing Co., headquartered here, has agreed to pay a $11,855 civil penalty. EPA said the company failed to submit the Emergency and Hazardous Chemical Inventory forms for anhydrous ammonia to the Illinois Emer-gency Response Commission (IERC) and the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) from 1996 to 1998.
