SNOHOMISH, Wash. — For the past eight years, Lorrie has lived with little to no heat in her 100+ year old home. She couldn’t pay her heating costs and in turn was unable to have any of the needed repairs done.
In February 2021, Lorrie obtained a diabetic ulcer on her foot. Unable to afford insulin to control her diabetes (her insurance didn't cover costs and what she was due to pay, she was unable to afford) along with having bad circulation in her legs, she was unable to control the sore on her foot. She was admitted to the hospital, thinking she was having a bypass, but understanding the possibility of amputation. Unfortunately, she needed the amputation. Lorrie is now living with one leg in a 100+ year old home with a space heater to heat her house.
