WEST REGION — The Contractors Association of Kauai (CAK is offering multiple scholarships to Kauai residents seeking a career in a construction-related field of study. The Kenneth Shioi Memorial Scholarship program is one of the funds CAK administers. It provides a $1,000 scholarship for a full-time student at the Kauai Community College majoring in carpentry, electrical, or HVAC. The association is also offering up to $10,000 in scholarships to Kauai residents in a four-year college or university that have a declared major in a construction-related field of study. According to the association, a construction-related field of study includes civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering; architecture; construction management; or landscape architecture.
Applications from high school seniors entering college with a major in a construction-related field of study are also being considered for the scholarships. Kauai residents doing post-graduate work in a construction-related field are also eligible to apply for the scholarships. Application forms are available at the senior counselors offices at Kapaa, Kauai, Waimea, and Island Schools, and completed forms must be received at the CAK offices by April 30. Application forms are also available at the Kamehameha Schools, Kauai Regional office, or by calling. CAK is also affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders.
