Name: Raymond Rodriguez

Title: Super Tech

Why He’s Tech of the Month: Raymond Rodriguez got into HVAC right out of high school.

“I went to a trade school because a buddy of mine was attending, and he said ‘do you want to learn a/c?’ I said OK,” he related.

Now Rodriguez works at Infinity Texas Air, a residential service, maintenance, and installation company in the greater Dallas area. In the three and a half years he’s been there, he’s worked his way up from helper to installer to team leader of the service technicians.

“Raymond isn’t your typical show-up-to-work tech,” said Trapper Barnes, owner. “He takes so much pride in his work. He really wants to make sure that he provides the same level of service to each homeowner, takes as much time as needed on every call … even if it’s just talking about the customer’s family.

“Just look at the Google reviews to see how many customers call him out by name,” Barnes added. “I know that there was one time a customer had no air at 10 p.m. and it was 105°F in the middle of the summer. He left his home after he was done for the day and took them portable a/c units until we could get back to install a new system the next day. Several times, he’s stepped up to help out the install team on a weekend that he was not asked to work because they had been putting in some crazy long days in the middle of the summer. We are lucky to have him on our side.”

Rodriguez said that’s part of company culture.

“We’re always learning: not only technical, but also learning to communicate the right way,” he said. “We do a lot of training on how to find out what people really need … so we don’t go to someone’s house and overwhelm them with everything we have to offer. We try to ask the right questions to lead us down the right path to solve their problems because everyone has different priorities.”

When the younger techs have a question or run into a problem, Rodriguez is the one they turn to.

“His servant leadership skills that he has learned from his family as a young man are impeccable,” Barnes said. “He wants to go out of his way to help anyone that needs it before he will think of himself.”

Rodriguez said at work, all the techs strive to help each other out.

“If you have a bad day, or they see you’re a little down, not acting yourself, they’ll give you some space or a motivational meme,” he said. “It’s a great atmosphere.”

In the future, Rodriguez aspires to open an Infinity Texas Air franchise.

“I love that you’re always working on something different, always meeting new people,” he said. “I like helping people out — that’s pretty cool in my book.”
