Madison Police Saving Energy, Money at New Midtown District Building
MADISON, Wis. — Focus on Energy, Wisconsin utilities’ statewide energy efficiency and renewable resource program, delivered a check for more than $17,000 to the Madison Police Department as an incentive payment for energy-efficient features built into the department’s new Midtown District police station.
The building, which opened in September, features energy-saving qualities that include insulated walls, occupancy sensors for lighting, and high-efficiency HVAC and boilers. The incentive payment will help offset some of the initial costs of the energy-efficient equipment, and the efficiency of the building will save the department an estimated $22,123 a year in energy costs, according to Focus on Energy.
