Specialty Construction Drove January Employment Growth
36,000 construction positions were created while national unemployment remained unchanged
WASHINGTON — The January Bureau of Labor Statistics Employment Situation report revealed another strong month of job growth with steady increases in the construction sector. Specialty construction dominated construction job growth with 26,300 positions added.
“Skilled employees are in high demand,” said Jack Jacobson, spokesperson for the Construction Employers of America (CEA). “Our apprenticeship and training programs are vital to ensure that construction employers have a quality labor market to access as demand in the specialty construction sector continues to grow.”
