Grocer Cuts Electricity Use by 30% with Energy Efficiency
Comprehensive roll out of efficient refrigeration, lighting, and controls backed by utility incentives
WORCESTER, Mass. — World Energy Efficiency Services, a leading provider of turnkey energy-efficiency services in New England, announced it is implementing a comprehensive set of energy efficiency technologies on behalf of Geissler’s Supermarket, a family-owned grocery chain with seven stores in Connecticut and Massachusetts. The multi-store engagement, which includes a completed mechanical and lighting retrofit at the company’s Windsor, Connecticut, store, a current implementation at its Agawam, Massachusetts, facility, and auditing the remaining five locations for additional energy-reduction opportunities, is set to save the grocer over $350,000 annually, reducing its electricity use by approximately 30 percent.
Grocery stores and supermarkets are among the most energy-intensive buildings on a per-square-foot basis, and energy ranks among the top operational costs in this segment. Wanting to address this large, growing cost, Geissler’s turned to World Energy Efficiency Services based on the firm’s success serving grocers and experience providing comprehensive energy efficiency solutions for businesses across New England.
