AHRI Seeks Suspension of DOE’s Commercial Boiler Rulemaking
Association calls on DOE to follow its own rules
ARLINGTON, Va. — The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) is calling on the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to follow its own procedures when promulgating rules, and is seeking suspension of a current rulemaking for revising commercial boiler efficiency standards until its established process is followed.
In a letter to DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Frank Stanonik, AHRI chief technical advisor, decried DOE’s continuing pattern of “violating its own procedures” in the Process Rule (10 CFR 430) that is supposed to govern how it goes about setting and amending regulations.
