Hypertherm Receives EPA Green Power Leadership Award
Award recognizes Hypertherm's commitment to using green energy
HANOVER, N.H. — Hypertherm, a U.S.-based manufacturer of plasma, laser, and waterjet cutting systems, is a 2015 winner of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) prestigious Green Power Leadership Award in recognition of its commitment to using green energy and its support of green power usage in the community at large.
Hypertherm is one of 11 organizations nationwide to receive a Leadership Award in the Green Power Purchase category. In selecting recipients, the EPA evaluates partners who have distinguished themselves through the purchase of green power, defined as zero-emissions electricity generated from environmentally preferable renewable resources. These resources include wind, solar, geothermal, biogas, eligible biomass, and low-impact hydropower. In 2014, Hypertherm fulfilled 100 percent of its domestic energy requirements with the purchase of more than 18 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of green power — enough to power 2,000 American homes for a year. Past recipients of the award include Herman Miller, Steelcase, and the Trek Bicycle Corp.
