The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it will not be increasing efficiency standards for geothermal heat pumps (GHPs) listed in its Energy Star program.

The Biomass Thermal Energy Council (BTEC) sponsored the third annual Bioenergy Day, Oct. 21, in which more than 60 organizations participated to raise awareness about all types of bioenergy, including thermal, power, and fuel.

ACCA (Arlington, Virginia) developed free lesson plans to assist in teaching ACCA Manuals J, D, and S to HVAC students. The lesson plans can be downloaded from ACCA’s website.

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economics & Statistics Administration (Washington) reported building permits in September 2015 were down 5 percent from the revised August rate, but up 4.7 percent from September 2014.

Quality Service Contractors (QSC) vice president and COO Charlie Wallace formally announced he will retire in March 2016. QSC is a self-supporting business unit of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling-Contractors — National Association (PHCC).
