June 27, 2013: DOE Funding to Advance Fuel Cell Technologies
Projects Include Demonstrating Viability of Fuel Cell Backup Power Systems
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced up to $9 million in new funding to accelerate the development of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies for use in applications including backup power systems.
DOE said projects selected for funding will demonstrate, deploy, and validate hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in real-world environments. These efforts are aimed at reducing the costs of hydrogen and fuel cells, expanding critical infrastructure, and building a solid domestic supplier base. Selected projects will represent a variety of applications with potential for widespread commercialization.
