Contractor image is an important factor in a company’s reputation. Whether operating a one-man shop or employing a large staff of technicians, HVAC contractors should likely consider what statement each process, employee, and piece of equipment makes about the company. That reputation is something that Greg Crumpton, president and founder of AirTight in Charlotte, N.C., keeps a close eye on in his company. One of the issues that he finds highly important is technician appearance and organization.
“Customers can tell the difference between technicians that operate as well-oiled and organized machines,” he said. “Trucks, tools, uniforms — it’s all about image. When technicians are digging through junk to find the proper tool, it can make them appear incompetent and potentially mar their images.”
