In the category of “as California goes, so goes the rest of the nation,” the HVACR industry has been closely watching the impact of what is being called “the nation’s first comprehensive regulation to reduce potent greenhouse gases from commercial and industrial refrigeration.” The regulation is referred to as AB-32 in California.
It is a regulation targeting large refrigeration facilities such as warehouses and supermarkets that use f-gas refrigerants such as HCFCs and HFCs and does not go after smaller systems as in restaurants or any place that uses ammonia or CO2.
