Nov. 11, 2011: MCAA/MSCA Revise Model NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Program
ROCKVILLE, Md. — The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) and its Mechanical Service Contractors of America (MSCA) subsidiary have released a revised version of their Model NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Program for Service. The program has been modified to bring its contents into line with recent revisions to the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA’s) Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace. The current version of the standard is NFPA 70E - 2012. The safety program addresses electrical safety for work on HVAC equipment pushing 480 volts or less.
“The Model NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Program for Service was designed specifically for mechanical service contractors,” said Tom Skaggs, chairman of MCAA’s Safety and Health Committee and vice president - safety for the Murphy Company. “The program is based largely on information from NFPA 70E - 2012, Article 130 - Work Involving Electrical Hazards.”
