By unanimous vote of its directors, the Geothermal Exchange Organization (GEO) has named Joe Parsons of Earthlinked Technologies as its new chairman of the board for 2016-17. He has served on the GEO board of directors since May 2014.

The Geothermal Exchange Organization (GEO) and the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) announced they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to strengthen and expand the complementary relationship between the two associations.
Geothermal heat pump (GHP) sales have grown steadily in recent years, but manufacturers estimate that GHP installations account for only about 1 to 2 percent of the total market. As the economy improves, some industry experts predict sales of GHPs will command a far larger share of the market by 2016.
Maryland recently became the first state to recognize geothermal heating and cooling as a renewable energy source. This has many leaders in the geothermal industry hoping this helps serve as a motivator to the other 49 states.
WaterFurnace International Inc., a leading manufacturer of geothermal and water source heat pumps, has announced the election of WaterFurnace CEO Tom Huntington as chairman of the Geothermal Exchange Organization (GEO).
