Thirty community college leaders and Siemens Industry Inc. are convening for a national event to promote campus living laboratories. Living laboratories are green and building system installations (e.g., solar panels, energy monitoring, etc.) that reduce colleges’ carbon footprints while serving as learning opportunities for students.

REC Solar, a leader in solar electric system design and installation, announced that it has installed 10,000 residential solar systems nationwide. Since the company’s founding in 1997, REC Solar said it has installed more than 160 megawatts of residential, commercial, and utility-scale solar power.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced that $46 million has been awarded under his NY-Sun initiative for solar energy projects that will add 52 megawatts to the state’s solar capacity.
