Research Shows Residential Sector Is of Growing Importance

ASHRAE announced that it is exploring its role in the residential market, looking at how it can contribute most effectively to improve the performance of residential buildings. The organization released a report, “ASHRAE and the Residential Construction Market,” which contains a series of recommendations to the board of directors.
Single-family homes dominate the residential building stock in the United States. However, according to a new report from Pike Research, a part of Navigant’s Energy Practice, the number of single-family homes is now decreasing. Multi-unit residential, on the other hand, is expected to expand.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is inviting residential code enforcement officials, builders, contractors, and designers to an April 26 training workshop in York on the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).
