Ice and refrigeration company will be ‘highly complementary’ to Middleby’s portfolio

Investment banker Harris Williams & Co., has announced the sale of Follett Corp., Easton, Pennsylvania, to The Middleby Corp., Elgin, Illinois. Follett is a designer and manufacturer of ice and medical-grade refrigeration products.
The new Building Load Deferment (BLD) system, from HIGHMARK, New York City, is a pre-engineered thermal energy storage system, enabling energy usage to be deferred to off-peak hours via ice storage and then utilizing that ice for the building’s chilled water system during peak hours, for energy savings of up to 50 percent.
The company is partnering with leading solar companies including NRG Energy

CALMAC, a leader in energy storage systems, has released the results of St. Lucie School District’s (SLCSD) energy cost reduction strategy using ice-enhanced cooling. Over the past seven years, the district has installed CALMAC’s IceBank® energy storage tanks in 15 schools to cool students and employees.
CALMAC, a leader in thermal energy storage systems, announced that it is now a member of the Texas Energy Storage Alliance (TESA), a technology-neutral coalition of energy storage technology product and service companies.
CALMAC announced the installation of its IceBank® thermal energy storage tanks at Sierra College in Rocklin, Calif. The installation of the energy storage system at the outdoor Campus Center resulted not only in efficient cooling and cost savings, but art students use the tanks as a palette for painting their artistic expressions.
