Have you ever had a day where you woke up and stubbed your toe, or spilled your coffee, and got into a negative frame of mind and the rest of your day went downhill?

Your state of mind is one of the most important factors in how you perceive the world around you. And your perception of the world will impact the way you interact with others.

For a residential service provider you need to be in a positive state of mind to give your best to your customers.

Here are a few ways to create a state of mind that is centered and welcoming:

• Begin your day by writing out three-to-five things you are grateful for. It is hard to be upset when you are in a state of gratitude.

• Help someone out. This can be anything from letting someone merge in front of you in traffic to extending a compliment.

• Slow down — take a deep breath and simply focus on what is going on around you. Do not get caught up focusing on the future or dwelling on the past.

Your customers and teammates will be happy to visit with you more often when you are in a pleasant state.
