Clay Stevens, president of International Exposition Co. which produces and manages the AHR Expo, talks about what’s new at the 2014 AHR Expo in New York City, including new product trends, the expected record-shattering attendance numbers, and how attendees can prepare for the event ahead of time. Posted on Dec. 13.

Q: The expo is coming up very soon in New York City. What last-minute preparations are you making right now?

A: Preparations are never done until the door opens on day one of the show. Right now, we’re paying special attention to hotel room usage because we are exceeding our previous numbers and we’ve already had to increase the size of our room blocks once to accommodate the folks who are planning to come to the show. We’re also fielding endless questions from our 1,900-plus exhibitors. Based on preregistration, we’re anticipating more people than we did in 2008.

Q: Will this year’s AHR Expo be the biggest one ever?

A: If we have 60,000 people in attendance, it will be the largest show ever. The record was set in 2008 in New York City, and Chicago, in 2012, edged it out a little bit, by a couple hundred attendees. It looks as if we will be setting a new all-time record this year.
