There’s something to be said about being in the office each and every day, getting on the grind, tending to customers, and overseeing your employees.

But perhaps there’s even more to be said about getting out of the office.

I was recently speaking to a contractor who went to an industry event, and he said getting out of the office for a few days proved to be almost as big of a benefit as the information he received at the event.

He noted getting out of the office for a few days was extremely refreshing, allowing him to really grasp the information at the event, and come back ready to implement what he learned (which he already has begun doing).

I can speak from personal experience; sometimes getting out of the office can be refreshing, even if it’s just for a day. But, as this contractor did, you should make the most out of the days you’re not in the office. Industry events are a great way to meet other contractors and learn real information, things you can take back to the office and implement immediately, from those who are walking the walk.

Because the HVAC industry is so large, there are events going on in almost every town. Many areas host local chapters of industry organizations, not to mention there’s different trade shows and contractor group meetings throughout the country.

This industry has a lot of resources to offer. Stepping away from the office to meet some people and learn something serves as a great personal refresher.
