The University of Industrial Distribution (UID), an educational program focused on serving the wholesale distribution industry, announced that it has officially changed its name to the University of Innovative Distribution (UID). Founded in 1994, UID is sponsored and managed by 35 leading industry trade associations.
The Obama Administration and its union and academic supporters dislike some of the methods by which manufacturers and distributors manage the supply chain. The Administration distrusts the shift of “non-core functions” from large manufacturers to specialized companies and more closely scrutinizes supply chains.
Additional $90 Million Cash Investment Builds on Successful Partnership

Watsco Inc. announced that it has acquired an additional 10 percent ownership interest in Carrier Enterprise LLC, a joint venture with Carrier Corp. The transaction raises Watsco’s ownership stake to 80 percent. The additional $90 million investment in the business was paid in cash.
