The Army Research Lab (ARL) is going through a series of programs to improve its energy efficiency. One step called for installing an onsite generator and using the waste heat to replace the boiler generated hot water. But the boiler was also producing steam to humidify some of the laboratory’s clean rooms.
Hemant Mehta’s WMGroup must be doing something right because his team has been fine-tuning HVAC systems for the same major New Jersey pharmaceutical company since 1984. The latest improvement involved the upgrading of the chiller systems at the company’s 100-acre research and development campus.
The best way to avoid costly HVAC system repairs is to perform regular preventive work, and, while most work is best left to the professionals, some things can be performed without the assistance of a service professional.
