The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) marked a theme of “Unconventional Thinking” for business growth in the 124th anniversary year of the organization. 

It’s time again for the annual Cooling Showcase. The intent is to help contractors prepare for this busy period by doing the research that will help them distinguish between brands.

With building owners and managers looking to wring savings from every square foot of space, manufacturers have introduced a wide array of advanced energy-efficient technologies that are designed to lower utility bills without compromising comfort.

While contractors are admittedly embracing this temporary sense of certainty, they’re still left with more questions than answers.

The road to natural refrigerants is a rocky one. There is much talk, but not a lot of action. However, this sector is certainly expanding. 

Compressor overheating is usually caused from high compression ratios. High compression ratios can be caused from a combination of high condensing pressures (temperatures) and low suction (evaporating) pressures.

Determining that a compressor has failed on a refrigeration system is normally a relatively simple procedure. But, discovering why the original compressor failed may not be as simple. 

While the efficiency of commercial buildings has improved significantly in recent decades, the building industry has only begun to tap the energy reserves trapped in underperforming facilities.

Once considered an overseas staple and domestic add-on, ductless HVAC equipment is now pushing the limits of the add-on market and spilling into contractors’ businesses as a primary system option.
