Taft Engineering LLC: Flood Controller

Flood Sentry Anti-flood Controller is a packaged controller designed to provide flood detection with multiple alarm outputs. Multiple electrical outputs allow for alarms, starting a sump pump, closing a valve, or ringing an emergency pager. According to the manufacturer, once the control's float-type sensors detect flood conditions, the controller sets off an alarm and sends a signal to activate the appropriate mechanical reaction, whether it is starting a sump pump or closing an upstream valve. The system includes a wall-mounted controller, dual float (or conductivity) sensors with 16 feet of cable, UPS battery backup power (up to two hours), dual alarm contacts with time delay, and anti-vandalism protection via key lock entry. The company says that the controller gives the option of safely locating backflow prevention devices in-doors, where they can be maintained and inspected easily without imparting flood risk.
