URS selected for modernization of Treasury Building

WASHINGTON, DC — URS Greiner Woodward Clyde, a division of URS Corp., San Francisco, CA, has been selected, along with Shalom Baranes Associates, to modernize the landmark U.S. Treasury Building, the oldest office building still in operation by the original cabinet level office for which it was built.

The project encompasses the complete renovation of the 502,000-sq-ft building, which was first built in 1833. The renovation will be accomplished in three phases while the building remains in operation.

URS Greiner Woodward Clyde is responsible for energy conservation analysis and design of a new hvac system, a new electrical distribution system, a state-of-the-art communication and data network, fire/life safety upgrades, a new plumbing system, and modifications of existing systems to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
