Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005: Ultraviolet Product Is Designed to Kill 99 Percent of Pathogens

February 8, 2005
ORLANDO, Fla. - The BreatheCLEAN® Whole Home Air Purification System, from BreatheCLEAN Air Purifiers, is a new ultraviolet product that harnesses enough high-intensity ultraviolet light to consistently destroy mold spores, bacteria, fungi, yeast, dust mites, viruses, such as cold germs and influenza, and other airborne mircroorganisms, according to the company.

The unit is installed into the home's central ductwork. It plugs into a standard electrical outlet, drawing less energy than a 75-watt light bulb, yet provides 24,000 microwatts of ultraviolet energy, enough to kill 99.9 percent of pathogens based on published ultraviolet susceptibility data, says the company.

The product is designed to be installed simply and cost effectively, the company says, with typical installations by HVAC professionals taking less than 30 minutes.
