The BreatheClean® whole-home air purification system is an ultraviolet (UV) light device designed to destroy the pathogens that infect indoor air and can aggravate asthma, allergies, and other respiratory maladies. According to the manufacturer, the product's design harnesses enough high-intensity UV light to destroy, on a consistent basis, mold spores, bacteria, fungi, yeast, dust mites, viruses such as germs and influenza, and other airborne microorganisms, as well as organisms that cause smallpox, anthrax, or severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). The product is installed in the house's ductwork. It plugs into a standard electrical outlet. The company says the light bulbs last for one year.
